According to The Union Leader, the Edie selection committee made a surprise visit to Bedford High School on Monday to announce the news.

"I think what set them apart is the student body, and we know how creative and vibrant they are," Peter Weaver, head of the EDies high school selection committee told the Union Leader. "They're taught by an exceptional faculty, and the community is behind them 100 percent. I think you can really see that there's vitality there, and it was that vibrancy of the school community that made us decide on selecting them."

This is the first EDie recognition for BHS, though it was a finalist in 2012. The award is scheduled to be formally presented on Saturday, June 8 at an award banquet at the Manchester Radisson on Elm Street.
