Bedford Olde Towne Day Set for Sept. 21

Plastic frogs, fine foods and more are on the schedule.

Submitted by Jane O’Brien

Once again, it is time for the Bedford Olde Towne Day celebration on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In a town that continues to grow each year, local clubs, organizations, businesses and town departments work together to turn Sportsman's and Riley Field Complex into a festival afternoon with fun for all ages.

Keeping with the "hoppin' good time" theme over the years, plastic frogs have fallen out of the sky and jumped record distances. You can purchase your "Bull Frog Bounce" ticket at the Town Offices before the event $2 a piece or 3 tickets for $5. We have three prizes to offer the winning frogs $100, $75 and $50.

Ticket booths for this event will be located in two high traffic areas, by the pool building and in Sportsman's Field by the pond. For $8 your child will receive a green wristband and with this wristband your child is able to do any of the activities which are sponsored by each organization attending the event (i.e. Bedford Men's Club hosting bounce house).

Don't forget the food at this event "The Taste" is an affordable way to sample the exquisite foods offered by local eateries. For BOTD 2013 the restaurants participating are: Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Weathervane, The Inside Scoop and Fratello's. At the ticket booths you can purchase pink $1 tickets which can be used for "The Taste" and other concessions such as soda, water and ice cream.

Kids don't forget to BYOF (Bring Your Own Frog) so go out and find a frog and get him trained for the "Frog Jumping Contest" scheduled at 1:30 p.m. which is sponsored by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage of Bedford.

We also need to thank our business sponsors for this event: Silver Sponsors: Daniel Webster Animal Hospital and Bronze Sponsors: Lindner Dental, Normandeau Associates, F&N Restaurant Services LLC and Spectrum Marketing Companies.

So hop on down on Sept. 21 (rain or shine). For more information about this event please contact the Recreation Department at 603-472-5242.
