5 Most Newsworthy Stories of 2011: Snowtober

Count down to the New Year with the five most newsworthy stories of the last six months.

Bedford Patch launched almost exactly six months ago, and together we've seen a wide-variety of stories. There's been some news that's been positive, even uplifting. And there have been some heartbreaking stories. Other stories, still, have fallen somewhere in the middle.

With that in mind, we thought it would be interesting to take a look back at these last six months as we head into what's sure to be an eventful 2012. After all, where else are you going to get a list like this that's entirely dedicated to Bedford?

5. Snowtober

If you had told me on June 30, the day Bedford Patch launched, that there'd be more snow on the ground in Bedford on Halloween than Thanksgiving and Christmas combined, I wouldn't be the only one calling you crazy.

Yet you'd be the one getting the last laugh. The National Weather Service reported 20.8 inches of snow accumulated in Bedford when a massive snowstorm buried the region on Oct. 29 and 30.

Mother Nature's unexpected trick resulted in up to 88 percent of Bedford , dozens of roads being ), three days of and, of course, Trick or Treating being

The storm also resulted in the state taking a hard look at the reaction and and other electrical service providers.
