You're right John, i used to love that skit with Seth, Belushi, and Ackroyd. And the others withRead More Carvey and Murphy. Oh and again, the others with Sandler!! Oh wait, you mean Seth wasn't around then? Oh their ratings were much higher and the result of a different cast? and different writers? Ah, yes that must be the reason for the 35+ years and not Seth!

You must not watch the show - they make fun of both sides. You should remember, 'liberal' does notRead More mean 'anything to the left of Ted Cruz and Alex Jones', there is a very large area of 'moderate'. I guess realizing that requires an open mind and the courtesy of allowing others to have differing ideas.

Steve, i actually DVR it every week and I laugh plenty. I am a big music fan and I enjoy theRead More celebrity talent. I think it is a shame that a lot of the latest cast left as there was a time thru the late 90's and 00's where the show pretty much stunk. You are correct to say that they do try and mock both "sides" but if you are to take an objective look, they almost always play the conservative with some sort of insulting/derogatory tone and the liberal i.e. Clinton, Gore, Obama, Biden as more of a comical tone of something more superficial. Bush portrayed as an idiot. Cheney as mean (and the actual president), Palin - well most believe that Tina Fey is actually Palin and believe that Palin actually said "I can see Russia from my house", McCain as a geriatric almost senile character whereas Clinton was the suave womanizer, Obama is teflon and the worst I have seen is a comical take on the failure of a website. I think Biden has received the worst portrayal of the left but he is a pitiful character anyway. Chevy Chase even admitted that his hatred of Ford drove the impersonation in the manner it did and since then, the cast has been encouraged to take their character to an extreme and allow their political slant to percolate through the portrayal. Daryl Hammond possessed a talent that is un-equalled to this day and very rarely did his impersonation seem ill-intended like those of today like Fey and others. I would say the most recent member that was close to Daryl's talent was Bill Hader. It is too bad he is gone. (Although I won't miss the Californian's sketch!!) So in response, I do watch and I am a big fan, but I wince occasionally when I see the political imbalance. There is even such a thing as the SNL effect in recent elections and it suggests that democrats receive a bit of bump from the show and it's effect on impressionable viewers, but I guess it isn't too much different than the mainstream media. I have been trying to watch Fallon, who is turning the tonight show into a nightly SNL sketch. I still prefer Leno. I will give Seth a chance but my expectations are pretty low. Having to be up at 5:30 am everyday, doesn't afford me too much late night tv during the week but I will watch occasionally.

I'm all set. Thanks for the link though. I don't think that these elephants at Ringling BrothersRead More were among those abused. I would prefer you spend your time trying to help those poor elephants that suffer and die at the hand of poachers. That is truly an effort that I can stand with you on!

Apljak...Dozens of photos showing Ringling current General Manager Gary Jacobson and employees atRead More their Center for Elephant Conservation facility in Florida using cruel and brutal methods to train their baby elephants. http://www.babyelephants.net/keyword/ringling%20elephant%20training/1076581185_qLjp4vd#!i=1076581185&k=qLjp4vd Oh I do spend time trying to help elephants that are being poached. I also support the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Africa that raises orphaned baby elephants and returns them to the wild. Attending Ringling Circus does nothing to help elephants only exploit them. A background check on Ringling Bros Circus reveals they have violated the Animal Welfare Act for decades. Ringling views these fines as the cost of doing business. The latest was in November 2011 the USDA/APHIS fined Ringling Bros a record $270,000 for 24 violations of the Animal Welfare Act. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_welfare/downloads/FEI_signed_agreement.pdf. Ringling has amassed repeated violations over the decades. http://rbviolations.webs.com/ One of those 24 violations was for not providing ongoing medical treatment for Sarah a 54 year old performing elephant doing 400 shows a year. You can view the actual USDA Inspection Report at this link. http://media.signonsandiego.com/news/documents/2011/07/13/elephant.pdf Ignorance is not bliss.

CJ Ellie, do you know if there is a way that I can email you privately through the Patch? I wouldRead More like to do more for the elephants in my part of NJ. You would be a perfect ally :)

Is there some reason BCTV doesn't post what program is currently on via cable (i.e. so when youRead More peruse a menu listing it would show what's actually on instead of local programming)? I'd probably watch more if that was the case.
