So Much To Do in Bedford This Weekend, So Little Time

If you can't find something fun in Bedford this weekend, you're simply being lazy.

Of all the weekends of the year, this particular three-day span is shaping up to be busy and eventful for most Bedford residents.

Since all this weekend's events are likely to overfill your calender, Bedford Patch has compiled an easy-to-read list of the many opportunities that await, including links with additional information about each event:

Friday, May 17

6-8:30 p.m. - Carb up! Planning to run in one of Saturday morning's Bedford Rotary Club Memorial Road races? Perhaps you're just looking for an awesome meal for a reasonable price that will benefit a great local cause. Well, the Bedford Crew Club Pasta Dinner Fundraiser at the Old Bedford Town Hall should fill your need and your belly. Enjoy pasta and famous sirloin meatballs in marinara sauce by Denise Ricciardi, as well as salad, rolls and butter, boneless chicken breast, dessert and beverages. Advanced ticket prices are only $10 for adults and $5 for children under 5-year old. Tickets at the door are $12, and there will be a raffle and door prizes as well. Saturday, May 18

9 a.m./11 a.m. - Have some fun. Go for a run! The 39th-annual running of the Bedford Rotary Memorial Road Races takes place at Bedford High School Saturday morning. Register online for the 5K (11 a.m.) or 12K (9 a.m.) run through www.rotarybedfordnh.com, or print the application and mail it in. Tees for the first 400 registrants, and walkers are welcome in the 5K.

11 a.m. - A run of a different sort. The Bedford Police Department, as part of its fundraising efforts for the free Saturday night exclusive screening of 'Heroes Behind the Badge' are hosting of Motorcycle Run that begins at Blowin' Smoke in Bedford, stops at the NH Law Enforcement Memorial in Concord. 10 a.m. - noon. No, that's not a real dinosaur ... or is it? The SEE Science Center will be bringing its full-size, 35-foot tall inflatable T-Rex to the Bedford Citizens Bank Branch to encourage people to learn about dinosaurs during the last month of the Citizens Bank Presents Dinosaurs! Exhibition. Visitors to the Citizens branch will receive discounts to the exhibition and children will receive dinosaur prizes. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, click here.

3- 5 p.m. - Preview summer fun! Camp Kettleford is having an Open House from 3-5 p.m. Come and tour Camp Kettleford, meet the Director and her team of staff, and get excited about summer camp. Located on the shore of Sebbins Pond,  summer campers will be able to participate in general program activities such as swimming, boating, arts, drama, games and outdoor cooking. Those that participate in a themed unit may develop their skills a bit more in jewelry making, practicing theatrics, cooking a gourmet meal and more. Emphasis is placed on the value of gaining independence, making friends, creativity and being a part of something great!

7 p.m. - A can't miss event! Enjoy a FREE screening of 'Heroes Behind the Badge,' which tells the powerful and shocking stories of real-life police officers who lost their lives while performing their jobs, as well as the stories of other real-life officers who survived traumatic assaults. This is the first, and possibly only time 'Heroes Behind the Badge' will be shown in New Hampshire, so don't miss out on this rare opportunity. The event begins at 7 p.m., on Saturday, May 18, in the Bedford High School Auditorium.

Sunday, May 19

10 a.m. - noon - Yeehaw! In order to celebrate Bicycle Safety Month, the Bedford Police and Fire Departments are hosting the 2nd-Annual Bike Rodeo this Sunday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the upper parking lot of Bedford High School. Police and Fire Department personnel will be on hand to provide bicycle and motorcycle demonstrations while educating participants about bicycle safety. For more information, click here.

11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Bowl for Nicholas! Before you head the pre-Memorial Day Parade, head to Merrimack Ten Pin and receive unlimited bowling for 2 hours, shoe rental, fresh baked pizza and beverages, LED lighting and music, raffle baskets, give aways and a cake for Nicholas' 10th Birthday!
Admission $20 per person (under 5 years old is free). All proceeds go to batten disease science to cure the fatal childhood brain disease through Our Promise To Nicholas Foundation, which
is a 501-c3 non profit charity.

1 p.m. - I love a parade! Bedford's annual Pre-Memorial Day Parade kicks off on Sunday, May 19 at 1 p.m. for the annual Pre-Memorial Day parade.  Let’s show our Veterans from the Revolutionary War to the Iraq War just how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice to our country by joining them on this special day by honoring them.This event is sponsored by the V.F.W. Post #8401 and the Bedford Parks & Recreation Department and we would like to invite you to participate. Parade line up at 12:30 p.m. and we will march approximately 1 mile down Nashua Road to County Road ending at McKelvie Intermediate School.
