Monday Essentials: Aircraft Lands on Busy NH Highway

Here are five things you should know in Bedford this week.

1. Don'f forget your grass skirt! The Purple Finch Café is celebrating two years of great food and fun in Bedford this Thursday, Aug. 22, beginning at 7 a.m. Join the festivities and wear a Hawaiian Shirt, and don't forget to try The Purple Finch's Big Kahuna Burger!

2. Now that's a sight to see. A Cessna Skyhawk, landed on Route 89 in the northbound lane Sunday at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday night. It was piloted by John F. Principe, 65, of WashingtonNH, and a passenger, Karl R. Kloeppel, 66, of Newport. The pilot told troopers that the aircraft lost power and as result he determined that the safest place to land was the highway. The pilot reported landing without incident. There were no injuries to the occupants or anyone on the ground, and there was no damage to the aircraft or to any vehicles on the ground. The plane was towed from the scene.

3. The weatherman says ... 
Looks like another week of sunshine and beautiful weather in Bedford. Today's forecasted high is 83 degrees, with a 10-percent chance of sprinkles in the morning, but otherwise partly cloudy skies. 4. Bacon, eggs and politics? The Bedford Republican party has scheduled its annual breakfast for Monday, Sept. 23 at 7 a.m. at the Manchester Country Club. Local elected officials will provide updates from Concord and possible 2014 congressional, senate and gubernatorial candidates will also be in the house! Click here for more information.
