Snow Totals

According to Weather.com, Bedford received 5 inches of snow Thursday, with another couple inches possible today. Other areas of the state, such as Hampton and Manchester, accumulated roughly 10 and 8 inches, respectively.


Latest Forecast

Another 1-3 inches of snow is possible today while temperatures barely crack single digits. According to Weather.com, the forecasted high today is 11 degrees with a 70 percent chance of snow. A wind chill advisory is in effect through 1 p.m. Friday. Temperatures are expected to drop to a near record low of -11 overnight.

Parking Ban & Other Town Ordinances

Parking Ban

Effective as of Nov. 1 and running through April 1, Bedford has a parking ban on all public highways between midnight and 8 a.m., and at any other time that a motor vehicle may impede snow removal operations. Any person violating the parking ban is subject to a penalty not to exceed $50 for each offense, and any vehicle parked in violation may be authorized to be towed by the Bedford Director of Public Works or by assigned agents and/or independent contractors engaged by the Director of Public Works or Chief of Police. Any vehicles towed will be stored and released to the owner only upon payment of the cost of towing as established by the Town Council.

Keep Snow Off Town Roads

The town of Bedford is reminding all residents that no snow or ice can be placed upon the traveled surface of any Class IV or Class V town-maintained road during snow removal operations.

Those who hire snow removal contractor are asked to inform their plow driver they cannot push the snow across the road because of the hazard created for motorists. Any person violating the by-laws is be subject to a penalty as follows:

  • First Offense – written warning
  • Second Offense - $50 penalty
  • Third Offense - $100 penalty

Mailbox Risk

In general, all mail and newspaper boxes are allowed to be installed within the Bedford's right-of-way at the owner’s risk. The removal of snow and the maintenance of the mailbox and post are the responsibility of the homeowner. For proper location and any questions you may have, you may contact the Bedford Department of Public Works at 472-3070.
