Portrait Project NH Volunteer: 'It Makes Me Really, Really Happy Inside'

How it feels to give the gift of family photos.

It was Jessica Boucouphael to the rescue, after a little girl, so excited to see her family portrait, ripped apart the plastic sleeve containing the photos just printed up for her family as part of the Portrait Project NH at SOPHA studios in Manchester.

The photos tumbled to the ground, and the little girl dissolved into tears. Boucouphael quickly grabbed another plastic sleeve and helped the dad put the photos back inside, trying to comfort the little girl, who just wanted to hold them in her hands.

"Seeing them as happy as that little kid was, who ripped apart [the bag holding] her pictures because she was so excited to see them? It makes me really really happy inside," said Boucouphael, a budding photographer who interns at SOPHA.

She was among 85 volunteers who spent the day on Sept. 28 helping local families through the process of getting their portraits taken by a team of professional photographers. You can read all about it here.

Then, listen as Boucouphael and fellow volunteer, Jennifer Chisholm, a social worker from Manchester, talk about the event in this video.
