Diamond Dandies: Bedford Baseball Players Continue to Impress

Babe Ruth team four wins away from New England title. Little Leaguers excel across the board.

While the Bedford 9- and 10-year-old Little League all-stars head to Rhode Island this week for the Eastern Regionals, last year's 11- and 12-year-old all-stars are making another run on the Babe Ruth diamond.

Indeed, it's another year and that, apparently, means more success for Bedford's junior sluggers.

Babe Ruth

After dropping the New England Regional tournament opener, 9-5, to Plymouth, Mass. on Saturday, Bedford 13U all-stars bounced back with a 12-4 win against Central Valley, Maine on Sunday.

Monday, Bedford continued its success by knocking off New Milford, Conn., 9-4.

The local nine now play Westfield, Mass. Tuesday night at 5 p.m. The victor advances to the loser's bracket final Wednesday with a chance to compete for the tourney championship Thursday.

Little League

Bedford Little League is hosting a rally for its  9- and 10-year-old all-stars from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lurgio Middle School cafeteria.

The team heads to Cranston, Rhode Island to represent New Hampshire in the Eastern Region Baseball Tournament this week! In addition, the 11- and 12-year-old District 1 state runners-up will be honored, as will the 12-year-old wooden bat champions and the 11-year-old wooden bat runners-up.

Bedford's 9- and 10-year-old all-stars include:

  • Emet Baker
  • TJ Crowley
  • Andrew Douthart
  • Nolan Ingemi
  • Ryan Juliano
  • Kyle Lavigne
  • Alex Lobdell
  • Michael Pratte
  • TJ O'Connell
  • Adam Roy
  • Tommy Saltzman
  • Ethan St. Hilaire
  • Silas Forcier (alternate)
The team is managed by Jamie Saltzman and coached by Todd O'Connell, Mark St. Hilaire and Chris Roy.

Bedford Patch will continue to follow and provide updates on both the 13U Babe Ruth team and the 9- and 10-year-old Little League all-stars.
