Bedford Drops Opener, Bounces Back with Convincing Win

Bedford's 13U all-stars are playing for a spot in the Babe Ruth world series.

Despite playing roughly 10-15 minutes from Gill Stadium, it may be Bedford, and not tournament host Manchester, that holds the true home field advantage in this year's 13U Babe Ruth New England Regionals.

In fact, Bedford may very well have the best experience in the tournament as many players on this year's squad represented last year's 11- and 12-year-old Little League all-star team that fell one win short of the Little League World Series.

This year, they're taking aim at the Babe Ruth World Series in Williston, North Dakota, which is scheduled for August 17-24.

Bedford defeated Central Maine, 12-4, Sunday morning to improve its record to 1-1 and setup a Monday matchup with the loser of tonight's contest between New Milford, Conn. and Coventry, Rhode Island.
