Bedford Little Leaguers Break Out the Big Bats

The Bedford 9- and 10-year-old Little League all-stars may have dropped their first matchup in the Eastern Regional Tournament, but they left little doubt in their second and third contests.

Playing against the top teams from around New England in the round robin portion of the Cranston, RI tournament, New Hampshire's representatives pelted North Andover West, Mass. and rode an 18-hit effort to a 21- 7 triumph on Monday to even their record.

Then, Tuesday afternoon, the locals continued their onslaught with an 18-7 victory against Windham, ME to move to 2-1, good enough for second place in the standings behind only Southington South, Conn., which handed Bedford an 11-2 setback the tourney opener on Sunday.

The local nine close out round robin play against Portsmouth, RI Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
