Bedford Ranked No. 2 School District in U.S. by Forbes

Popular publication ranked Bedford No. 3 in 2011.

For the second time in three years, the Bedford School District has been recognized as one of the top three school districts in the United States by a leading publication.

Forbes Magazine, last week, named Bedford the No. 2 school district "for your housing buck" in the country, and the top district in the Northeast, a region that includes all of New England, as well as New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, DC.

According to the magazine, Bedford's rapid residential growth over the last two decades is due, in large part, to "its long reputation for high-performing schools."

“We were a very small town 20 years ago, with 10,000 residents,", Bedford Superintendent Tim Mayes told Forbes. “Now we’re over 20,000.”

Bedford – which currently has an average home value of $342,200, according to the article – was rated the No. 3 school district in the nation by Forbes in 2011, the last time the analysis was published.
