List of Bedford U.S. Service Academy Nominees Grows

In the last couple weeks, both of New Hampshire's U.S. Senators, Republican Kelly Ayotte and Democrat Jeanne Shaheen, have announced their lists of nominees to the United States' four prestigious service academies. Six of those students hail from Bedford.

Thursday, U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH District 1) released her list of 19 New Hampshire students - including another six Bedford names – for admission to the Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Military Academy, and the Naval Academy.

To be accepted at an academy, students must first apply to be nominated by their U.S. Representative or Senator. The process includes a full written application and an interview with the Nominations Board, which is composed of Academy Alumni.

“These students are some of the best and brightest in New Hampshire,” Shea-Porter said. “New Hampshire is very proud of their dedication and commitment to serving our country.”
