Report: Andy Sanborn Mulling Gubernatorial Run

Bedford's state senator said to be mulling several higher political offices.

Since entering the New Hampshire political scene roughly six years ago, Andy Sanborn has ran for office three times.

Though he lost his first bid for state senate in 2008, he earned the nod from the constituents of his home town of Henniker and surrounding communities in 2010.

In 2012, Sanborn resigned his seat and moved to Bedford, with his wife Rep. Laurie Sanborn, where he narrowly defeated Democrat Lee Nyquist in the District 9 State Senate race. His election was confirmed during a recount the next week.

Now, WMUR's James Pindell is reporting that Sanborn is considering a run for higher office, specifically noting that Sanborn was meeting with Republican Governors Association officials in Washington, DC last week.

Sanborn confirmed to Bedford Patch that he was in Washington "speaking with a number of different groups on a number of different issues."

He would not, however, confirm he's considering any other offices at this time.

Pindell also noted that, in addition to challenging Gov. Maggie Hassan, Sanborn may consider running against Rep. Carol Shea-Porter for New Hampshire's First District U.S. Congressional seat, or against Jeanne Shaheen for U.S. Senate.
