Two Dead in Terrible Route 101 Crash

A tractor trailer hit a vehicle on Route 101 early Saturday morning.

A devastating collision on Route 101 has left two dead and closed off the road this Saturday morning.

A tractor trailer was heading west on Route 101 around 4:30 a.m. when a car attempted to leave the intersection at Schoolhouse Road, according to Amherst Lt. Anthony E. Ciampoli.

The vehicles collided and both the passenger and driver in the car were found dead on the scene. The victims identities have not been released at this time.

The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured, according to Ciampoli.

Police have closed off the major state route from Joppa Hill Road in Bedford to Schoolhouse Road in Amherst. A detour is currently in place until the road opens, which should take two- to four- hours.

Ciampoli said that the accident is under investigation, but all indications show that there was no wrongdoing on behalf of the tractor trailer driver.

Patch will have an update on this story as it develops.

I was their boss a few years ago and they both were very good hearted people. I still go there often and when I go to the foundry or through shell they both would go out of their way just to see me. I can't believe this could happen. They both will be missed.

Thoughts and prayers to both families. May they rest in peace and may their families find some comfort at this time. Scott Nattress

Sparky, Kyle, or "concerned reader" above, All I have read said "under investigation". Were any of you there?.... I thought not. I would suggest you read Proverbs 17:28.
