Top Story of 2013: Suspect Named in Bedford Home Invasion
Several major developments occurred in the investigation into the brutal 2012 attack.
It was nearly a year ago this January that Bedford Police received their first big break in the November 2012 home invasion case that left two Bedford residents brutally beaten and clinging to life.
At an April press conference, Bedford Police Chief John J. Bryfonski and Hillsborough County Attorney Patricia LaFrance identified the primary suspect as Lawrence, Mass.-native Charles Normil, 32, who is currently in custody and awaiting trial on similar charges stemming from a Methuen attack.
In September, Normil was formally indicted on 13 charges associated with the Thanksgiving weekend Bedford home invasion – including attempted murder and rape. A trial date has yet to be set in New Hampshire.
Search warrants were also unsealed this fall revealing many disturbing and graphic details associated with the crime.
