Bedford Firefighters will conduct a formal walkthrough just prior to viewing hours beginning today for Bedford Fire Department Lt. James Clark.
The 26-year Bedford FD veteran was found unresponsive by emergency responders at his Goffstown home on Thursday, April 11, roughly 12 hours after completing his last shift.
A press release that was sent out by the Bedford Fire Department indicates that Clark was victim to a "cardiac event."
Visiting hours are scheduled for Monday afternoon, from 5-9 p.m., at French & Rising Funeral Home, at 17 South Mast St. in Goffstown, following the firefighter walkthrough.
According to firefighter funeral customs, a walk-through is described as follows:
A “walk-through” is a formal ceremony during the wake or viewing. At a predetermined time, uniformed members and dignitaries enter and pass single file by the casket. Each firefighter stops briefly at the casket to pay tribute to the deceased. The family should be informed of the exact time and procedure for the walk-through.
Clark's funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Covenant Church, at 1 Covenant Way, in Bedford.
