Democratic Activist Worked on Many Political Campaigns

97-year-old Bedford woman passed away on Jan. 9.

Agnes G. (Tremblay) Breton, 97, of Bedford, died January 9, 2014 at The Arbors of Bedford after a period of declining health.

She was born in North Cambridge, MA on January 10, 1917 to Joseph and Georgianna (Cote) Tremblay. She graduated from Our Lady of Pity High School in North Cambridge and later lived in Candia, Manchester and Hooksett for many years.

Mrs. Breton helped manage her husband’s business, Roland H. Breton Construction Company, for many years. At that same time, the two of them founded and ran the Northwood Nursing Home in Manchester. Prior to that, she was a bookkeeper at R.H. White Company in Boston.

She had been active in the State of New Hampshire Democratic Party and worked in many political campaigns. She also served as chairperson for former Gov. John King and was an active volunteer at Catholic Medical Center.

She was married to Roland H. Breton who died in 2001. During his military career she had been active with many military social groups.

She enjoyed rug hooking, crocheting, cross stitching and ceramics.

She was predeceased by 11 siblings.

The family includes two daughters, Helen Manseau and her husband, Donald, of Candia and Dr. Constance Richards and her husband, Douglas, of Bedford; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Manseau, Kristen Gould, Carolyn Michaud, Meryl Richards and Matthew Richards; and four great grandchildren, Madeleine Gould, Alex Gould, Nate Michaud and Sarah Michaud.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Bentley Commons, St. Teresa Manor and The Arbors of Bedford for the care they provided to Agnes.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (1/17) at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, corner of Candia Road and Sarto Street, Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.

Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 2 Industrial Park Dr., Concord, NH 03301, or the NH Association for the Blind, 25 Walker St., Concord, NH 03301.
