Andy Sanborn Makes Big Decision on Run for Governor

Bedford's state senator has been rumored to be seeking higher office.

For months, Andy Sanborn (R-Bedford) has been rumored as a likely possibility to challenge incumbent Gov. Maggie Hassan in the 2014 gubernatorial race.

This week, Sanborn - a second-term state senator and rising star among Granite State Republicans - put those rumors to rest.

Sanborn told WMUR Friday that he's content in his current position for the time being.

He's expressed to Bedford Patch, in past interviews, that his focus remains not on seeking higher office, but on promoting traditional New Hampshire values through fiscal conservatism and supporting small business.

With less than 14 months remaining before the next gubernatorial election, a Republican has yet to announce his or her candidacy for New Hampshire's top office.
