Who is Winning the NH Supermarket Wars?

It's been a turbulent summer for Market Basket, Shaw's and Stop & Shop.

The past month has definitely been a turbulent one for the big chain supermarkets in New Hampshire.

Market Basket went through a very public battle over its future last month, with employees circulating "Save Market Basket" petitions and rallying behind CEO Arthur T. Demoulas, at least temporarily preventing his ouster. Some had feared a new CEO would hike prices and change the way the company operates.

In June, Shaw's said it was eliminating its Rewards Program and would instead be reducing prices on thousands of items at its local stores. And just last week, Shaw's announced it will be closing six of its New Hampshire locations as part of an overall effort to increase company profitability.

Then on Tuesday, Stop & Shop said it will be closing all six of its New Hampshire stores on or before Sept. 21, including nearby locations in Bedford, Hudson and Manchester. According to the company, the stores are being closed because they haven't met performance goals.

The competition for your grocery dollars is certainly getting fierce. But who do you think will come out on top when all is said and done? Leave a comment below with your thoughts.
