Community Corner

Small Business - Big Heart

Tonya Rochette, Vice President of Dover- and Concord-based Human Resource Partners (HRP), was recently named to an elite group of 4 statewide finalists for the Young Professional of the Year nod from the Rising Star Awards.  A collaboration of Stay Work Play and New Hampshire Public Radio, the Rising Star Awards celebrate and recognize New Hampshire's remarkable young professionals and college students, the initiatives to keep them in NH, and the businesses and programs that go the extra mile to recruit and retain them.

Rochette’s volunteerism and community involvement are legendary in the capital area.  She credits her employer for making it all possible: “I love being a part of the HRP team in part because our culture at HRP believes strongly in supporting our communities and I love that I am able to give back in ways that are meaningful to me and my family.”

Earlier this year, Rochette was among the 2013 “40 Under Forty” award recipients.  Nominees from across New Hampshire are considered annually, with selection based on the ways young leaders are helping make New Hampshire a great place to live.

HRP, with offices in Dover and Concord, is a community-minded organization steadfastly committed to volunteerism.  President Delise West encourages the HRP team to support their local communities.  On Rochette’s example, West notes: “Tonya has been an inspiration to all of us at HRP.  Her commitment to the welfare of NH and its citizens is contagious.  All of us at HRP are very proud of her and honored to call her our colleague and friend.”

In addition to serving as Board President of Intown Concord, Rochette is Chair of Concord TV’s Board of Directors.  She hosts the Concord TV program “Nonprofit Connection”, volunteers for the Capital Area Student Leadership program, and is a graduate of both Leadership New Hampshire and Leadership Greater Concord.

Rochette was named “Young Professional of the Year” in 2012 by the Concord Young Professionals Network, and has also been recognized as “Volunteer of the Year” by the Concord Family YMCA.  A familiar face at Concord schools, she is a longtime school volunteer.

Most recently, Rochette joined the Board of Directors at Concord 250, a new nonprofit organized to plan and execute City-wide celebrations of Concord’s 250th anniversary in 2015.  Always willing to put herself out there for a great cause, she has plunged into the ocean in February for Special Olympics NH, and in January 2014 will dazzle attendees as a competitor in NHTI – Concord Community College’s popular annual fundraiser: Dancing with the Concord Stars

Rochette is an inspiration to her colleagues at HRP, who share the sense of community spirit and dedication to local nonprofits.  The HRP team enjoys coming together in service; they recently invested sweat equity to support Families in Transition’s (FIT) new Dover home for women at risk of homelessness.  Human Resource Partners believes small businesses can have a big positive impact, and everyone wins when communities are strengthened.
