Bedford Parents Honored at New Hampshire Fisher Cats Game

Amy and Steve Finnerty were recently honored as recipients of the Bellwether Community Champion award, presented to individuals who have made a positive impact in the lives of others and their community. On July 19th, they threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the New Hampshire Fisher Cats game and were celebrated during an on field, pregame presentation.

Four years ago, the Finnertys watched their twins, Caitlyn and Keegan, struggle for life after being born 15 weeks before their due date. They attribute their twins’ survival to the staff at the Elliott Hospital and the March of Dimes for support in those initial days and weeks. Since that time, the Finnertys have been annual participants in the March of Dimes’ March for Babies fundraiser, raising over $5,000 with their Family Team this year alone.

In addition, to become more involved, they applied, and were selected to be the 2014 NH Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes, traveling around the state, sharing their story and providing information about the organization in the hopes of helping others. Their countless volunteer hours and fundraising efforts have contributed to the organization’s expanded services and total families reached in the state of NH.
