Too Good to be True? Avoid a World Series Ticket Scam

Here are seven things you should know today.

1. Go Sox ... but fans beware. Boston Police are reminding Red Sox fans to be careful when purchasing tickets for the World Series, which kicks off in Boston Oct. 23 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Purchasing tickets from unknown entities is done at the buyer's risk, police say, and they recommend using authorized ticketing agencies to get tickets to the games. "Purchasing via other means, creates the potential for possessing either an invalid or counterfeit ticket. Individuals attempting to gain admission using fraudulent tickets will be evicted from the building and face the possibility of arrest," police said in a press release on Monday. If any community members have information about the selling of counterfeit tickets, you are urged to contact District D-4 detectives at (617) 343-4683. Individuals wishing to provide information anonymously may do so by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).

2. The weatherman says ... Temperatures again hover in the mid- to high-60s today, with a forecasted high of 67 degrees, though there is a 30-percent chance of afternoon showers. The overnight low is 37 degrees with clear skies.
