Big Blood Drive in Bedford Wednesday

Here are five things you should know today.

1. A 'positively' fantastic cause. The American Red Cross has teamed up with Bedford Positively to sponsor a blood drive at the old Bedford Town Hall (70 Bedford Center Road) on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 12:30-6 p.m. All are encouraged to stop by and give blood at their convenience, but appointments are available and can either be scheduled online at redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Donations may also be made to New Horizons food shelter.

2. Have your say on how your tax dollars are spent. The Bedford School Board holds a public hearing on tonight at 7 p.m. The Bedford Town Council also has scheduled public hearings for Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. on the following items:

4. The weatherman says ... after a brief winter warmup, Monday night temperatures dipped rapidly back into the teens. Tuesday will hover right there as the forecasted high, according to Weather.com, is 14 degrees with a 0-percent chance of rain and an overnight low of 8. Very cold, gusty winds will make temperatures feel even cooler.
