Best Wishes, Jessie! Bedford Bids Adieu to Town Manager

Here are five things you should know today in Bedford.

1. Fond farewell. It's been roughly a year and a half since Jessie Levine was named Town Manager, but today is her final day in Bedford. After succeeding Russ Marcoux, who passed away suddenly in late 2011, Levine stepped in and tackled many lingering and contentious issues head on. She is moving back to Springfield for personal reasons and has accepted the position of Sullivan County Manager. In her time here, Jessie wrote regular blogs for Bedford Patch to discuss many prevalent issues in town, and we want to thank her, not just for her contributions to the website, but also for always being available whenever we've had questions that needed answering and for being open and forthcoming with information, no matter the subject matter. Thank you, Jessie! You will most certainly be missed!

2. The weatherman says. The day begins with possible snow showers and likely ends with rain. According to Weather.com, the forecasted high today is 36 degrees, with a 40-percent chance of snow. The overnight low is 30, with a 50-percent chance of rain.

4. Don't let your pipes freeze! Several Bedford homes have already suffered significant damage cause by bursting pipes. Protect your house by keeping the heat on and following these other tips from the Bedford Fire Department.

5. Bulldog Bites.
