Romney's Early Victory 'Not Healthy,' 'Disappointing'
Not all state officials were cheering "Mitt!" on Tuesday.
As Mitt Romney and his supporters filled the Southern New Hampshire University campus with cheers of approval Tuesday night, many state GOP officials said they were "puzzled" and upset at the former Massachusetts governor's early victory.
Jack Kimball, the former head of the state GOP, said he was "not surprised" at the win, although he said that didn't stop the timing of the outcome — declared at 8 p.m. with only 9 percent of the precincts reporting — and the outcome itself from being a "disappointment."
"It's not a healthy victory," said Kimball, a Newt Gingrich supporter. "There's still room here. Romney may have won here tonight, but it's not a healthy victory. He really didn't close a deal here yet.
"If Mitt comes out with only a 10-point win, it's not that substantial. There's still some wiggle room now."
Jerry DeLemus, chairman of the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC, a tea party group, also said he wasn't pleased with the Romney win, even if he saw it coming.
"I'm not surprised," said DeLemus, a Rick Santorum supporter. "New Hampshire is not a socially-conservative state... He's been running since the '90s, so he's got great name recognition."
DeLemus said it was difficult to listen to Romney's "insincere comments" during the primary victory speech because he said many of his remarks about "America and all that" don't hold much water because Romney snubbed Granite State tea party groups over the last year and DeLemus said he felt the candidate ignored their views.
Chris Buck, an active Republican leader from Dover and a Buddy Roemer campaign coordinator, was also shocked at the quick victory announcement, although he disagreed that Romney's margin of victory gives hope for his opponents.
"I'm a little disappointed it wasn't a lower percentage because that would've left the door open for other candidates to come in and help drag the race out longer," said Buck. "That would've benefited all of the other candidates like Gingrich, Santorum and Roemer."
He said Romney taking polling percentages in the high 30s vastly reduced the chances for the other candidates, as he said he does "not see it possible" for a "coalition of greater than 40 percent" of remaining GOP voters selecting an "alternative to Romney."
What do you think? Were you happy or disappointed with the quick victory announcement? Tell us in the comments!

well, if you want my opinion, here it is: i'm re-thinking the guy in the white house. i'm thinking, compared to this group of candidates, he's not so bad after all. the economy is picking up, so maybe his ideas on reviving it were on target after all. his health care plan is gaining more approval and i'd be totally surprised if romney or any of the other candidates will dare take away what the plan has delivered, especially to parents with kids out of high school and still don't have jobs or insurance. and i'm starting to think that maybe the republican tea party ideologues really have been just trying hard to defeat any attempt obama has made to fire up the economy to have a platform to run on in 2012.
and when i put this together with the notion that it will be hard to turn the country over to the gang that sent it off track in the first place it makes the idea of supporting obama a whole lot easier.

I totally agree! The Republicans have been trying to derail the economy for a long time. They think that will help them win the election, because their number one priority is not the American people -- it's getting back into power. They don't care about the average working American. They only care about their contributors, the banks, which are supporting them five to one over Democrats in this election. Banks don't like any regulations and the Democrats forced regulations on them.

You are right grasspress. The picture is very clear. The party of "NO" had one purpose "Make Obama one term president". For 3 years they have been blocking him over and over again. He tryed to compromise with them but they are still making his time a hell.He can't govern and that is their goal (remember what Norquist said) . By letting the economy sink, and executing their extreme agenda across the country, American people are waiking up and they won't do the same Mistake they did in 2010. Republican and Teabaggers don't care about the middle class, they care only about theirs contributors and the 1%. Obama is a good man with good intentions and he will have a lot done without the congress in the way this year. The economy is growing slowly but surely, we see monthly adding jobs, in-sourcing is in the way.......We are in the right direction . Obama is the right person in the white house.

Right on, folks. It's true, the Republican agenda was to block Obama in order to make their new election year easier. I'm hoping it backfires. Obama has been a good president who looks out for the people. Even behind the scenes stories tell of his concern and private work towards helping individuals and America as a whole.

But, to be honest, this is no different than what the Democrats have done when they controlled Congress. They succeeded in making George HW Bush a one-term president by getting him to raise taxes in exchange for cutting the deficit which, of course, never happened after the taxes went up. So, when McConnell/Boehner say they want Obama to be a one-term president, it's no different than what Tip, TedK, Gephardt, Foley, and Wright tried to do and in at least one case, succeeded in doing.

I think you're spot on. There are some other things to consider, too. He's kept us safe. The withdrawal from Iraq. The end of Osama Bin Laden. The rescue of the American auto industry, and all the jobs it saved. The end of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". And lots of other things I'm sure I could remember if given enough time. He's not perfect. No president ever has been. But he could be a hell of a lot worse - and that's exactly what the GOP offers.

What Obama has done with an obstructionist congress is amazing. He has done in 3 years what Bush didn't do in 8 years. He has done a lot and he will do more without congress. His accomplishments are astonishing . What are the republicans candidates offering? The same old ideas that got us into the mess. I don't want to go back there. I agree. Though Mr. Obama hasn't been everything he promised he'd be, he's done more in his three years in office to turn this country around despite the gridlock in Congress. I also fear letting one of those yahoos on the right back into the White House at this time in history. The fact that one of them wants to go BACK to Iraq and the others are pushing for military interference with Iran scares the crap out of me because it seems to me that the GOP are all war mongers and Mr. Obama is trying to do things the way that I prefer, without a military buildup and the needless death of our men and women in uniform. I am happy he's gotten us out of Iraq and am waiting for him to pull the troops out of Afghanistan. No need to go back to the middle east "just because". He's also the one who got Bin Laden, not Bush who had almost 6-1/2 years to get him and never did, though they had the chance and backed off.
Jon Huntsman has been the only Republican candidate that I did like, until I found out he supported the Ryan plan. Other than that, I kind of like him, though I would still vote Obama in Nov.

What are we smoking here? Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama with his cronies in Congress pushed through a horrible healthcare bill (which not ONE Republican and some Democrats refused to vote for) modeled on Medicare, which is going broke. He plays the race card at every opportunity. He sics his justice department on states trying to deal with the flood of illegals within their borders...he has okayed the indefinite detention of any American suspected of "terrorism" (which the Republicans tried to stop), two days after the troops left Iraq, the bloodshed started up again, he has hired dozens of "czars" who are not accountable to Congress, he is at the helm of a spending spree, and has tripled the national debt in just three short years (he makes George Bush's spending look tame in comparison). Oh, I know, look what he inherited, blah blah.
But above all, he is a depressing pessimist! A self-proclaimed lazy person; detached; aloof; and unconcerned about anything but his own precious skin (and taking his vacations and trips to the golf course). A lot has been unfortunately said about Mitt Romney and Bain Capital by distraught Republican candidates. This is to be expected from those seeking the nomination now rejected by most Americans. I believe that Romney’s firm created a number of jobs.
Yet, if there were some lost it is at its worst a small number. Yet under the current administration the President has lost perhaps as many as 24 million jobs. The Democrats are simply wrong to conclude that Romney’s 90,000 will negate Obama’s loss of millions of American jobs. His job losses are here for the world to see.

What about second place, Ron Paul ? Yes, he wants to implement very fiscally conservative policies. I do believe our nation needs to live within our means, meaning that most years we only spend what we have in income. We do not kick the can down the road to our children, grand-children or beyond.
Socially, Ron Paul believes government has no place in our living rooms or bedrooms. We become adults and make our choices as long as we do no harm to others.
Foreign policy... well this seems to be the most scary to most people. I admit, I would like to hear more and discuss more. However, the idea that the US walks around the world with a big stick to keep others in line, which came in vogue at least 100 years ago, perhaps truly should be re-visited. Ron Paul simply believes that if the US is going to go to war, putting the lives of our service-people on the line, that the war should be declared by Congress. That is Congress's designated power and the direct line to what the people should control. We should not have random military activities around the world otherwise. I like this. I believe he would have the wisdom to discern when an activity truly was needed for US interests to be protected or defended.
