While Rivals Tussle in Iowa, Huntsman Charges Forward in NH
Huntsman says Iowa will be forgotten tomorrow.
If you have any doubt where Jon Huntsman's focus is, look no farther than his wife Mary Kaye's purse.
There, you'll find a wooden egg with the initials J.H. and M.K.H. written on the bottom.
"It's our good luck charm," said the glowing First Lady hopeful.
Mary Kaye said she's held on to the keepsake since picking one up when her husband spoke at a Politics and Eggs breakfast at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College in Manchester on Sept. 1.
That was relatively early in the former Utah governor and China ambassador's presidential campaign.
Today, he marks his 150th New Hampshire campaign stop, a milestone that coincides with the Iowa Caucus.
So while Huntsman's GOP competitors battle for votes in the Midwest, he's remained steady and true to the Granite State.
Huntsman began the day with a 10 a.m. appearance at Strong Foundations Charter School in Pembroke, where he spoke of the importance of education reform and moderation at the state level prior to handing out iPads to students as part of the iSchool program.
After grabbing a quick bite to eat at a Hanover bakery and cafe, Huntsman held an employee town hall meeting at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, where he was peppered with questions concerning health care.
Now he heads to Keene where he'll hold a similar employee forum and tour Tidland Corporation at 3:30 p.m.
He'll conclude his day with his 150th New Hampshire event when he joins former Pennsylvania Governor and Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge at a town hall meeting in Peterborough at 6 p.m.
Check back with Patch later today for a more detailed look at Huntsman's day along with a one-on-one interview with the surging candidate.
