Power Restored To The People: 9 NH Storylines

Joe Biden, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, and city elections, plus a very large piece of New Hampshire history.

Power restored to the people after an October snow storm. The New Hampshire Primary date is set for Jan. 10, 2012. And the first-in-the-nation state continues to make, and preserve, history.

9) Le mot juste, or just Tough Love? Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick told  as he rallied the base this weekend – a year from Election Day – in opening new field offices in the Granite State. After President Obama wins his first New Hampshie Primary on Jan. 10, 2012, the question is how much money and sweat equity he and his forces will invest in the state. Could be considerable. And now a word from the opposition: For every Obama field office opened, there were 15,649 foreclosures nationwide, Republican National Committee spokesman Ryan Tronovitch said.

8) Ron Paul Gunning for Gold. Congressman Ron Paul will talk about what's right with America and what's wrong with America in the next scheduled  in Concord. The Patch conversation with the candidate is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m.

7) Not on the ballot Tuesday, but anyway ... Rick Santorum's "Faith, Family and Freedom" tour rolls back into town Monday and Tuesday – early Tuesday he'll greet voters going to municipal election polls in Nashua and Manchester.

6) North of the Notches to the Future? Ron Paul returns to New Hampshire with town hall meetings in Manchester and Berlin on Thursday and a town hall meeting in Rochester on Friday. Is Ron Paul the only presidential candidate to focus on the North Country? No. Rick Santorum and Jon Huntsman, among others, have routinely picked northern stops. But at least one of Paul's team members in New Hampshire is from North of the Notches. We'll see how that plays.

5) On with the show this is it: Jackie Cilley, a possible Democratic candidate for governor, is on WMUR-TV's CloseUp program at 10 this Sunday morning. WMUR Political Director James Pindell will talk about mayoral races. And this is it, or it could be the last show for Tom Fahey, the Statehouse Bureau Chief for the New Hampshire Union Leader. Fahey gave his two-week notice last week.

4) The Cain Train, sans government subsidy. When will Herman Cain return to New Hampshire? With him soaring in polls, particularly in Iowa, his attention may be elsewhere for a spell. He sent out a fund-raising letter to followers this weekend focusing on raising cash to excel in the Iowa caucuses. What's his fund-raising goal? $999,000.

3) Get Out The Vote. The business week begins with a rush of municipal elections, including , and Tuesday, and ends with Veterans Day on 11-11-11.

2) Congress shall make no law ... Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to give remarks Thursday at the Capitol Center for the Arts during the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications' First Amendment Award.

1) A very large piece of history. New Hampshire's in the unusual position of owning remnants of its first statehouse, built in 1758 in Portsmouth, the seat of the New Hampshire Colonial government. What should the state do with this unique resource? The state Division of Historical Resources is holding two public meetings to gather insight. The first is Nov. 14, 6-8 p.m., at the Tyco Visitors Center at Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth. The second is Nov. 15, 6-8 p.m., at 2 Pillsbury St., fifth floor, in Concord.
