For the second-straight year, the Bedford Village Inn will construct a giant ice bar in celebration of the New England winter season.
While last year's structure was 10,000 pounds, this year's version is expected to set a new standard at 50,000 pounds, making it the largest ice bar in the United States.
The 2011 event garnered a sellout crowd, and this year organizers are expecting more of the same when they host the Stoli Ice Bar from Tuesday, Jan. 24 through Saturday, Jan. 28.
Located in the BVI's central courtyard, there will be three separate ice bars, a martini luge and several free-standing ice carvings.
In addition, two "ice boxes" will be available for rent each night, offering guests a chance to rent out balconies that overlook the courtyard, complete with personal servers and other VIP amenities.
As a special addition this year, the ice bar will feature a colorful light show illuminating the entire space and ice creations. On the Inn’s Patio a “Chillin’ and Grillin’” area will host Executive Chef Benjamin Knack, formerly of Hell’s Kitchen, serving grilled food as well as hot drinks.
Special guest DJs will provide entertainment Tuesday and Wednesday evening, and the Josh Logan Band is scheduled to perform performing live on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night to cap off the celebration.
The event is open each night from 5:30-10 p.m., and complimentary transportation will be provided for additional off-site parking to and from the event from the Bedford Community Church, located less than a mile down the road at 56 Old Bedford Road.
A $3 admission charge will apply for entry. Specially designed tokens will be used to purchase all food and beverage during the ice bar. These tokens will be sold both during the event and will be available for sale at the front desk of the BVI starting Friday, Jan. 20. Guests at any of the Inn’s three distinct dining venues during the ice bar event receive complimentary admission and the opportunity to purchase tokens during their meal. Of each admission ticket sold, $1 will be donated to the Child Advocacy Center of Hillsborough Center and the Animal Rescue League in Bedford.
