Police Unveil 'Are You Okay?' Program [VIDEO]

Residents may now receive well-being phone calls and check-ins.

After months of fundraising efforts by the Bedford Police Department and local residents, the long-awaited "Are You Okay?" program was officially unveiled yesterday.

The program, spearheaded by Officer Jessica Humphrey, provides daily or periodic phone calls to those who may be in immediate need of police assistance, specifically the elderly, but also those with disabilities or who may be in need of medical assistance.

Police Chief John Bryfonski – who noted Bedford Police are also in the process of rolling out other community programs that focus on areas such as local youth and young adults, as well as the Bedford business and retail community – said the "Are You Okay?" effort wouldn't be possible without the generous donations of many Bedford businesspeople and residents (including and ).
