AG: Doctor Showed Up to Work Drunk

Dr. Joseph Savage's license was suspended on Sept. 21.

A local doctor has had his medical license suspended after he allegedly showed up to work drunk.

Attorney General Michael A. Delaney announced Tuesday that the New Hampshire Board of Medicine has suspended the medical license of Dr. Joseph Savage. Savage practiced in Manchester.

The board's action was in response to information that Savage appeared for work while intoxicated. Due to his actions and appearance, Catholic Medical Center, which is just miles outside of Bedford, prevented Savage from seeing patients and ordered an immediate fitness to practice evaluation, the attorney general's office said. Savage underwent a blood alcohol screen which revealed a blood alcohol level of .186, according to a press release.
