2. 2012 National Night Out. This year's National Night Out, a coordinated country-wide night out against crime, takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Bedford Police, Fire, and Parks and Recreation departments will host events at Selvoski Field, near the l. The schedule includes a Police vs. Fire softball game, ice cream sundae's sponsored by the Coalition for Bedford Youth and a family concert with Ben Rudnick & Friends at the performance stage near the pool.

3. Talk about a perfect day. Yep, that's right. Mother Nature has seen fit to provide us a gorgeous, sunny 83-degree day with a 0-percent chance of rain. Get out and enjoy it. I know I will.

4. Seven up. Yesterday, Roger Federer won his seventh Wimbledon title by defeating home favorite Andy Murray in four sets. It's fitting then to note that on this day, in 1877, the All England Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club unveiled its first lawn tennis tournament at Wimbledon, which History.com notes was an outer-suburb of London. Twenty-one amateurs competed in the lone event, the Gentlemen's Singles tournament.

5. Here's the plan. The Bedford Planning Board is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 at the BCTV Bedford Town Meeting room. Among the topics to be discussed on the relatively short three-item agenda, board members will consider a request for final approval of a site plan for a 33,000 sq. ft. medical office building with associated site improvements at 5 Washington Place.
